We live near the city centre, and walk past this particular cafe almost weekly, but had never once gone in for a slice and a coffee. Today, we decide to pop in and see if it’s any good. Spoiler alert, it is decent 🐱
TL;DR
The cafe has a sterile ambience with standard tables and office-style seating, but the company of an elderly couple made the visit enjoyable. Food and drinks are acceptable. 2 out of 5 Grumpy Bears.Munchies
It’s a bit of a tradition now. Whenever possible, we try to do this cafe trip once a week. And as per tradition, we get high-calorie sugary things to eat. Today, we stuck with that tradition…
Both slices were delicious, of course. It would be quite rare for us to find something like this not to our liking. While good, there wasn’t anything in particular that stood out for us.
We shared a table with an elderly couple in the cafe, and when one of them saw the caramel slice when it was delivered, she smiled and said that we’ll definitely love that one. Clearly, she loves it too 😸
Drinks
Yea… I’m in a bit of a matcha latte phase at the moment, and Geoff has decided to join me today. The twist in today’s matcha latte is a strawberry flavouring in addition to the drink, which itself is sweetened and without that strong matcha flavour.
Apparently, this drink can be made hot or cold, and as it was freezing today, we both wanted ours hot. It tasted okay.
Ambience
The cafe can appear a bit sterile, with standard tables and uncomfortable-looking office kitchen style seats. There wasn’t any particular theme to the cafe that I can tell.
That is also why we were sharing a table with that other couple – we were on opposite sides of a coffee table, and we had our own sofas to lounge on. It was also enjoyable to share a chat or two with them.
There are also seats that face outwards by the glass perimeter of the cafe, which I guess could be nice if you just want a quick drink and didn’t want to interact with others, or want to watch the world go by outside.
