Tucked away at The Crossing in central Christchurch is a cafe called Gre3n Superfood Juice Bar, henceforth referred to as “Green” in the rest of this article. Green focuses on healthy foods, but you know us, we don’t do healthy 😹

Gre3n Superfood Juice Bar in The Crossing at Christchurch city centre offers a modern, industrial ambience with plenty of plants. While the menu features healthy options, we chose less healthy choices like macadamia nut and oaty chocolate slices. The cafe provides a large variety of drink options, including matcha lattes and mochas. but lacks on-site toilets. 3 out of 5 Grumpy Bears.

Munchies

After staring at the cabinet of food and studying the menu for a while long time… we picked these arguably not-so-healthy options – Macadamia nut slice and some sort of healthy oaty chocolate slice (I think – can’t confirm as Geoff who ordered it don’t remember what it is).

Compared to the other cafes that we visited, we found the pricing to be about average (NZD 6.90 each), but the portion sizes are a little on the smaller side.

Drinks

You’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice for drink options at Green. Other than the usual coffee options, there are all sorts of protein shakes and smoothies from $12. There is also an interesting sounding hemp seed smoothie, but we didn’t try that. We got the boring options – a matcha latte and a mocha.

Do note that the matcha latte served here is unsweetened, unlike in our experience with other cafes whenever we ordered one.

Ambience

The cafe is set in a somewhat industrial vibe with bare ceilings exposing industrial pipework, but with plenty of plants everywhere in the cafe. The space is open, with large windows and doors letting lots of light in. It’s a very modern aesthetic.

The seating is comfortable and a little intimate. The sofas do need some more cleaning.

The service is acceptable.

Other Things of Note

There are no toilets inside the cafe, although there is a public toilet nearby the car park entrance. You can also scan a QR code at the table to order and pay.
